Are you able to swim one length of the pool on your front (freestyle) and one length of the pool on your back (backstroke)? Boys and girls ages 5 to 18 are invited to join the Salida Cyclones Summer Swim Team. This 2017 State Champion swim team features excellent coaching and a lot of fun! From a foundation in western horsemanship, participants will learn and be able to execute basic horsemanship/equitation skills such as the stop and turn, then to apply those skills in various competitive and work-related formats, including gymkhana, cattle working, and the game of polocrosse - a game originally conceived of as a means of developing a more natural working seat while on horseback. BV Rec and Buena Vista Baseball Association have partnered to put on the Youth Baseball League! Players will be placed on volunteer-coached teams in the following divisions: 6U T-Ball, 9U Machine Pitch (Minors), and 12U Live Pitch (Majors). Machine Pitch (Minors) is for ages 7-9, as of 4/30/19. This website is intended to be a one-stop source for all things recreational in Buena Vista. In addition to programs hosted by the Town of Buena Vista Recreation Department, other organizations are welcome to submit programs that fall within the mission statement of the Recreation Advisory Board.
We’d love to hear your ideas for new programs that inspire a variety of interests, including sports, music, and fine arts. Please submit your ideas for events and activities that promote community development through positive social interaction and facilitate stewardship of our outdoor recreation resources.
Refunds for recreation programs will be given if a participant withdraws before the registration deadline for the program. Refunds may be given if a participant withdraws after the registration deadline due to a medical or family emergency. Refunds will not be granted for program cancellations due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond the control of the Recreation Department.
