– Learn to Play: No prerequisite. No previous experience. Brand new players.
– Beginner: You’re getting out and playing, understand the game, but your shots and points often don’t turn out as you’d like or expect.
– Intermediate: You’ve gotten more consistent, more than half of your shots go pretty much where you want, you play some hard shots and some dinks, you’re thinking about strategy and court position, and you’re ready for more.

Schedule
– Learn to Play – Monday, September 13 – FREE
– Strategy at the NVZ Line (Intermediate) – Thursday, September 16
– Ball Not Going Where You Want? (Beginner) – Monday, September 20
– Winning the Soft Game (Intermediate) – Thursday, September 23
– Basic Strategy (Beginner) – Monday, September 27

Learn to Play – Monday, September 13 – No Experience/New Pickleball Players
Pickleball is a super fun, very social, and totally addicting sport that is accessible for people of all ages and skill levels, even if you have little or no background in paddle sports. After this clinic you’ll have the basic skills and knowledge to come out and play the game. Really! Paddles are provided. Just wear relaxed clothes and good sneakers, preferably not running shoes, and get ready to have fun!

Strategy at the NVZ Line – Thursday, September 16 – Intermediate
There’s a huge advantage in having your team at the line. Once you’re there, how do you win the point? We’ll cover safe shots, pressure shots, when to attack and when to wait, court position to cut off the openings, and working as a team.

Ball Not Going Where You Want? – Monday, September 20 – Beginner
In order to take control of the point, rather than just wait and see how it turns out, you have to be able to put the ball where you want. We’ll learn and practice the body mechanics to make this possible: Consistent stroke, controlling the paddle face, body alignment, and footwork. This lesson can really accelerate your game.

Winning the Soft Game – Thursday, September 23 – Intermediate
The soft game means hitting a ball that the opponent can’t attack. If you’re not getting attacked, you can relax and gain control of the point. This is easier than you may think, and makes pickleball even more fun.

Basic Strategy – Monday, September 27 – Beginner
Playing doubles certainly benefits from some strategy: knowing the shot you want to hit, working as a team, and being patient. The serve and return of serve set the stage, then what? Where should I be on the court? When should I hit hard, or soft, or deep, or short? What about “no man’s land”?

Attack, Defend, and Reset (Intermediate) – Thursday, September 30
This is both a technique and a strategy clinic. We’ll cover the benefits of a simple deep shot, and the failings of attacking too hard or too soon. Hitting and defending overheads. What to do when you hit a hard shot and it comes back even harder. And how to get yourself out of that crazy pickle you got yourself into!

Instructor
John Wozencraft is an IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) Certified Instructor and USA Pickleball Ambassador.

“I’ve been teaching workshops and private lessons for about three years, and teaching other arts most of my life. My background in tennis, dance, and yoga really help me see how your movements are either supporting or hindering the shots you want. If you don’t feel like you’re in control of your game, some coaching can really help. A great pickleball game comes from consistent shots, both hard ones and soft ones, knowing which one to choose, good teamwork, and a lot of patience! And the longer the point lasts, the more fun it gets.”
