DESCRIPTION:Achieve Social Outing: Night at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum!  \nCoed \nAges: 14 and Older \n$5/Participant \nSaturday\, August 16 and Sunday\, August 17\, 2025 \nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, August 13\, 2025 at 5:00pm \nBuena Vista Recreation is excited to partner with Achieve\, Inc to offer stand-alone Achieve Social programs designed to support and include neurodivergent individuals\, including those on the autism spectrum\, with ADD/ADHD\, and related disabilities. The inclusive outings provide opportunities to build communication\, teamwork\, and confidence\, while supporting social and cognitive growth for individuals in Chaffee County and the surrounding area. \nEvents are designed for individuals ages 14 and up. Each activity is supported by trained staff and volunteers\, with a minimum ratio of one support person for every three participants. If a participant requires more individualized support\, they are welcome to attend withe a personal caregiver\, mentor\, or support person. All attendees – including neurodivergent individuals\, friends\, family members\, and volunteers – must register separately to ensure adequate planning and accommodation. \nUpcoming Event: Night at the Museum! \nJoin us for a special overnight event celebrating the end of the season for the Little Engine Eatery. Starting at 4:45pm on Saturday\, August 16th at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum\, located at 560 E Main Street in Buena Vista\, CO. Participants will enjoy: \n\nA private tour of the museum\nA pizza dinner\nA walking tour of Buena Vista’s haunted spots\nGames and a movie back at the museum before lights out\n\nThe event concludes with breakfast the next morning. Participants should be picked up by 9:00am on Sunday\, August 17th. \nAccessibility and Accommodations: \nWe are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience. Gather your friends or bring the whole family to the Buena Vista Community Center (located at 715 E Main Street in Buena Vista) to enjoy hot beverages and holiday cookie decorating to kick off the holiday season!  \nReservations are made by table. Each table can accommodate a maximum of six participants. Each time slot is 30 minutes long\, and we only have 4 tables available in each time slot\, so reserve yours today! Multiple tables can be reserved\, if availability allows. When reserving multiple tables in the same time slot\, you will only be able to reserve one table per account. The second reservation can be done under a different family member or friend’s account.   \nEach participant will be given multiple cookies to decorate and enjoy! The inclusive outings provide opportunities to build communication\, teamwork\, and confidence\, while supporting social and cognitive growth for individuals in Chaffee County and the surrounding area. \nEvents are designed for individuals ages 14 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.\nCost: FREE!\nWhen: Sunday\, April 26th from 1:00-3:00pm\nMeeting location: West Side Dirt Parking Lot of the Buena Vista Community Center – 715 E Main St. Buena Vista Colorado\, 81211 \nRegistration Deadline: Thursday\, April 9th to guarantee a t-shirt \nBuena Vista Recreation is excited to announce the fifth annual Keeping Bewnie Buena! – BV Neighborhood Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Sunday\, April 26 from 1:00-3:00pm. Join your friends and family for a fun filled afternoon centered around cleaning up surface trash in and around the town of Buena Vista’s streets\, parks\, and open spaces. \n\n \nCommunity members can meet at the BV Community Center. All participants will check in at 1:00pm (pre-registered folks will receive a t-shirt at check in). We will divide into small working groups\, and you will be given a designated area to focus on. We will have options for locations to walk to or drive to. The Town of Buena Vista will provide a large trash receptacle at the parking lot of the Community Center for everyone to dispose of their clean-up bounty.\n \nHow to prepare:\nBring your own gloves for clean up day\nFacilitators will have bags for folks to use at the meet-up location\nFeel free to bring your own TRDs (trash removal devices) and use your own waste bags if that is preferable\n \nWhy are we doing this?\nA large group of locals have done a very similar activity each spring for the last 20 years but have only focused on the River Park area. We feel this spring would be another great time to get outside and do something rewarding that everyone will appreciate immensely. And why not help keep Bewnie Buena?\n \nPlease register each individual that plans to participate.\n\n \nThe registration deadline to secure a free t-shirt is Thursday\, April 9th.
