Youth Basketball League – Grades 5-6 – 2026
5-6 Grade Youth Basketball – Fall 2026
BV Rec & BVHS Boys Basketball are partnering once again to bring you the Youth Basketball League! The League is open for players in K-6th Grades. Girls & Boys will be split into volunteer-coached teams in the 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 grade divisions. The Kindergarten age group will be coed and run camp-style (practices and scrimmages during the week with no games on the weekends). Practices will be led by trained BV Rec Practice Facilitators for the Kindergarten and 1-2 grade age groups. While the 3-4 and 5-6 grade age groups’ practices will be led by the BVHS Boys Basketball coaches and players. In addition to the listed practice times, 5-6 Grade teams will have a ‘Individual Team Practice’ Scheduled for Monday or Tuesday Nights for 45 Minutes at Avery-Parsons Elementary that is scheduled by the Parent-Coach for that team.
Game schedule and locations will be released after the season begins. All age groups will begin practice the week of Monday, October 19. All age groups will play their first games on Saturday, October 31 and final games on Saturday, December 12. Games will typically be played 4v4 on a full 2-hoop side court. Players and coaches will receive a team t-shirt, which is included in the registration fee. Players need to wear non-marking athletic shoes while on the court.
Season Dates: October 19 – December 12 (No practices or games the week of November 23 – November 29 due to Thanksgiving)

Cost: Early Registration Discount (Register Before October 3) – $80
Register After October 2nd – $95
Practice Times: Thursdays @ 7:00-8:00pm
Practice Location: Buena Vista High School Gyms (559 S Railroad St)
Boys – Red Gym; Girls – White Gym
Game Day: Saturdays beginning October 31
Game Locations: Avery Parsons Elementary School (516 E Main St) and McGinnis Gym (Next to Elementary School)

Volunteer Parent Coaches for each team are needed! A Coaches Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00pm in the Community Center. Please contact Corree at 719-581-1052 or crivas@buenavistaco.gov, if interested. Volunteer parent coaches are eligible to receive a 50% participant registration fee refund at the end of the season. Please contact Corree towards the end of the season if you wish to receive this refund. Please reach out to Corree if you or your child aged 13 or older are interested in being a paid Youth Basketball Referee.
